RACING AT LYME REGIS
Lyme Regis Sailing Club is renowned worldwide for its sailing conditions. Few venues offer sheltered launching and recovery with immediate access to the long Southwesterley swells which Lyme Bay is famous for.
We race dinghies all year, but the main season runs from March to October, on Saturday afternoon or Sunday depending high tide times, and Wednesday evening.
The Saturday race is aimed particularly as a fun event where you can begin racing and get involved in the post race social scene. Our main classes are Albacore, Phantom, K1 and Laser, in a mixed handicap fleet. Our space restrictions and sailing conditions mean we cannot accommodate catamarans.
We also run well attended cruiser racing, both our lift keel fleet, mainly Hunter Medinas and Parkers, along with the odd bilge keeler. Racing is organised whenever the tide allows in conjunction with the dinghy fleet, usually local or around the cans, with the occasional cross channel trip.
