The Fishing College ran a Sea Survival refresher course for IFCA teams from Devon and Dorset in the club on Wednesday. The course was run by Steve Postles and Carl, assisted by Sam Dell of IFCA. Sam learnt to sail at Lyme with our Youth Section. He won our youth Seamanship trophy, something he well remembers – and so do I !
The course practical activities included individual and team drills using a life raft, swimming in full kit with inflated life jacket and towing casualties. All passed the tests and achieved high scores on the written exam.
Steve and the IFCA crews thanked the club for hosting them. Some work patrolling in Lyme Bay and will be calling in periodically.
