All set to go, everything planned, 35 entries across the youth groups, 88 booked for the BBQ – but lack of even a breeze so RO Jerry Rook had no choice but to cancel racing for the day. Tim, Elliot, Simon, Cameron, Dave and crews stepped forward to arrange for a trip to Charton Bay on PJ with Ribs, joined by Tim O and Ray with Jeannie and Harvey helming ‘Colin’. All signed in and allocated boats, Ed, Niamh and Isla sitting in towed Picos, they set off. Swopped around for Rib rides during the trip, a bit of an adventure enjoyed by everyone. A chance to check the new radio aerial at the club which was successful. Jo and team brought forward the BBQ by an hour. A short break for the Beach team, then Elliot and the RNLI chefs mobilised the trolleys and helped recover the Ribs as the tide dropped. Tim and Cameron had to find a space on the pontoon for PJ, all safely back. A well-deserved drink and quality BBQ with all the trimmings – a perfect end to the day. But not the end of the Youth Regatta! By popular demand, and with a Race Team available, the Youth Regatta races are re-scheduled for next Saturday 19th July. Details to Youth groups shortly. Many thanks to all our adult volunteers, water and shore crews, BBQ team, Bar persons and to our supportive parents who made this a day to remember for our young sailors. Special mention and thanks to Tim O for bringing ‘ Jeannie’ and RayTec and Harvey for ‘Colin’. See most of you next Saturday!
