Awards evening for the youth training Saturday and Tuesday groups was held on 1 March at the clubhouse. Young sailors attended with their parents, Commodore Andy Robinson was guest. Certificates based on the RYA Start Sailing scheme had been given out previously, while the awards were for personal achievement, enthusiasm, teamwork and seamanship. Sally led the introductions helped by Jo, Jim presented the trophies and Andy added welcome and congratulations. The Seamanship Trophy passed from Elliot to Josh Dean. ‘We have a great ethos and atmosphere in our groups, supportive parents and are all proud of the progress over the seasons through to the Race Group, to work with the Sea School, to join in club racing or leisure sailing as we watch our young sailors gain skills. Thank you all, and now we are finalising our groups for 2025,’ said Sally. Andy offered crewing experience in his Albacore to youth members. Thanks to Dave for running the bar and Jo for the nibbles. Saturday Seamanship starts on 5 April, Safeguarding and Induction is on Easter Tuesday, 22 April. The Race Group is continuing currently, the club and Academy ILCAs have been allocated for 2025 – 4 of them to girls.
