3 June. Our more experienced helms paired with our YMs to give them an exciting sail, breezy conditions with building waves. The WSW wind direction gave sheltered water in the lee of the Cobb. Further out to sea, and in the gusts, there was the chance to learn about sailing in the waves. All was well within the capabilities of the helms and monitored by our SI and skilled DIs in 3 Ribs. Some crews were swopped in, most got wet, all came back enthusiastic. They now know how exciting sailing can be and what learning those basic 5 Essentials will lead to. Looking forward to next week! Thank you all, a great effort! Sally. > > A few pics from last night. A great session. A big thanks to the ILCA team for being flexible and helming and instructing in big seas. And as ever to all the adult helpers. Those with me on Rescue 1 did an introduction to powerboat driving, learning about Cardinal marks and talked through what the sailors were doing, focusing on the five essentials. > Cheers > Jim >
