Wind and Waves – an exciting Tuesday session!

> 10 May 2022 > A very steady southwesterly breeze of about 12 knots and some good waves made for an exciting evening’s sailing. > All coped well with the conditions, the more experienced helping out, although the three safety boats had plenty of action with a few capsizes and the odd gear failure. Tom put the 2 newer ILCAs through their paces, they’ve progressed quickly.

Ed helming with Monty, ( did he lose him at one point?), Freddie checking for Tom? Ollie looks comfortable.
> Elliot enjoyed surfing the odd wave:
With a wet but excited crew!
Issy helms Lyra, right, Louis with Alex. Later, Issy demonstrated capsize drill to Lyra while leaving her safe on a Rib.
Some got a bit confused
Edward positioned himself on the plate while Ella and Jack gave a hand.
And sometimes it went okay!
Josh keeps boat sailing well upwind
Ollie catching waves

LymeRib Jack and Ella never far away
Extra back up for gear and ferrying a shore, Dave and Ray were busy too.
Our young sailors concentrated on sailing a triangular course, with special emphasis on effective upwind sailing. A great session enjoyed by all.
