We are now well into our Tuesday sessions, with 38 young sailors attending. This includes 7 assistants and 6 helpers, all on call to help and encourage those coming through. We now have our beginners leaving the training Bahias for pairs in Picos or Fusions with jibs, and are working on sailing upwind as we prepare for sailing a triangle. We are without our GCSE students for a couple of weeks but are hoping their exams are going well. We have small equipment arriving as a result of a grant from Regatta and Carnival 2023 for which we are very grateful – a protest kit, whiteboard, wind indicators and small training marks. 3 of our Helpers who are competent independent sailors, are now taking over a Bahia and getting to the basics of trapezing, helped with some advice from crewing experts. All 3 were kitted out by Jo with harnesses and took turns on the wire this week. More photos by Jim to follow….. > > First challenge is exciting the harbour before practising the trapeze >
