Perfect training conditions for the new Oppie cadets on Saturday as they had their first session on the sea, safely attached to long ropes held by their parents in the water. First, they practised their tacking skills on the trainer, helped by Sarah and Allan. They rigged their dinghies, and were ready to take the first steps.
They sailed for over an hour, and finished with individual capsize drill with Allan and Dan. Happy smiling faces as they came ashore, were sent to shower and warm up before packing the Optimists away ready for the next session.
The Second year Oppie group set off with Cameron on a long track to the harbour mouth to launch for their session.
