LRSC Tuesday Youth Training starts for 2024

After a Safeguarding and Induction session on 9 April, Tuesday Youth sessions began on 16th. Gusty off-shore winds meant only the New Helpers were taken out on the water in Picos and a Fusion by Elliot and Ed with Tim, while Jim worked on shore with the New experienced YMs and Joshua, Freddie, Frankie and Noah took rigging and knots with the New inexperienced and Returners groups. They used Bahias and Picos. Katie helped run Safeguarding for those who had been on holiday last week and will be holding a Swop Shop for sailing kit. Please bring anything you’ve outgrown or would like to sell at a reduced price, and let Katie know if you are looking for an item. The Tuesday group has 38 youth members, and welcomed 12 new members with varied experience of sailing. The first sessions will be to assess levels and arrange next steps for YMs, giving teaching experience for our young DIs and AIs as well as developing their own sailing skills. The group runs on Tuesdays without a break, until mid July. We regret having to disappoint those who continue to apply to join us as we are full for this season. Sally.
