On Sunday, following the Centenary Regatta races and lunch, Past Commodore Jeremy Wallace invited Kate to unveil the permanent bronze plaque re-naming the Guiducci Deck in memory of Toni now that the extension has been completed. They were accompanied by Commodore Rob Wiscombe.
Built when Toni died and Kate made the donation to build the decking, some 15 years ago, the extension was funded by Kate and overseen by Jeremy. This was the first post-restrictions opportunity when club members could gather. Jeremy reminded everyone of Toni’s favourite response to ‘How are you?’, familiar to many members, engraved on the plate: ‘ On top of the world’.
Kate thanked the club and her friends there, and she and Jeremy hoped sailors would all remain ‘On top of the world!’
