Joan Pitt R.I.P.

It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of Joan Pitt, a member of our club for over 50 years. In the course of sailing her Mirror dinghy, she met and subsequently married Mike Pitt who later served as our Commodore. Joan was an active supporter of the Club’s social life, particularly on the catering front, and could often be seen in the galley of the old clubhouse with her team. More recently, Joan experienced health issues which restricted her visits to the Club, something she greatly regretted. Before Christmas, she fell and broke her hip, but following a successful operation in hospital, returned to her home on Raymond’s Hill. On Monday, Joan was readmitted suffering acute discomfort, and sadly, she died early on Tuesday morning. We will remember Joan for her energy and honesty, her resilience and optimism throughout her period of illness. Joan will be greatly missed by her immediate family and many friends, with whom we share our sincere thoughts and deep condolences.
Sally, for LRSC friends of Joan.
Details of funeral arrangements will be circulated when known.
