Brass Monkeys 7&8 Jan 23

Uninviting conditions perhaps, but 10 of the 20 dinghies who have so far taken part in this series turned out on a cold Sunday morning, with RO Mike Pridham setting a triangle course for Race 7 and a sausage for Race 8. Both lasted for half an hour and allowed the ILCAs to complete 3 laps, the others sailing 4. Wind from the shifty North, max 5 knots, sea almost flat.
The first start had a general recall, with all arriving prematurely. So Mike borrowed his helm’s black hat and hoisted it to prevent a repeat!

The triangle gave the Phantoms a close race with changes of leader throughout, Cameron, for once not in his 800, challenging hard. Simon Heusen finished with a 30 second lead, Cameron close behind Andy. Graham split the Albacores, Jerry managing to stay in front. Tom, the lone youth ILCA on the day, held off Fraser in his RS 300, and Stefan.

The Phantoms made a good start. And Cameron held on to take line honours, though the Albacores enjoyed playing upwind/downwind, he split them on corrected time. Jerry/Ben pipped Tim/Simon by a minute, giving them first and third. Cameron similarly beat Simon by a minute, everyone finished the race.
The series presently holds at Jerry in the lead, Tim next, Graham in 3rd, Mike P 4th, Dave G lead Phantom in 5th. Tom stays challenging at 8th, Cameron has time to catch up a bit if he sticks to one class. Full results on club website. Dave Law once again helmed the rib. Hope he retrieved his hat! Dave Beer did Beach.
