Jerry and Jake won the Albacore Europeans after 4 tough races in one day. They were congratulated by club members when they returned for the Centenary Regatta on Saturday, and by the Commodore in his Lyme’s 100 plaque unveiling following the BBQ.
Jerry sent the report that follows:
>> Lyme sent three Albacore teams Pwllheli, North Wales last week. > >> This was supposed to be the Albacore Internationals but Covid stopped the Canadian and American competitors coming, so the first half of the week was nominated as the UK Nationals and the second half as the Europeans. >> >> With lighter winds and changeable conditions, Jerry Rook and Jake Stow came 3rd in the UK Nationals but as the breezes increased, came first in the Europeans, a series of 4 races held in one day before the gales set in. They won 3 of the 11 races that were held in the week, consistently among the leaders. >> >> Tim O’Toole and Simon Law were 15th and 11th, having some difficult tussles with other competitors, while Cameron Moss and Jack Young, newcomers to the class, made 20th and 22nd in the Nationals and Europeans respectively. >> >> Jerry and Jake planing down the reach.
